The University of Ghana’s Department of Communication Studies has published the report of a multimethod study exploring how the Ghanaian media covered news about Covid-19 vaccines and vaccination exercises.
The Report titled “Media and Vaccines: A Study of Ghanaian Media Coverage and Attitudes to COVID-19 Vaccines” details findings of a study exploring the role of the Ghanaian media in Covid-19 vaccine uptake or hesitancy in Ghana.
It draws from a content analysis of media coverage of vaccination-related news, and surveys of journalists’ understandings, dispositions and behaviours towards Covid-19 vaccination as well as their journalistic practices.
The project from which the Report is drawn was funded by the Pan-African Network for Rapid Research, Response, Relief, and Preparedness for Infectious Diseases Epidemics (Pandora ID-Net) consortium.
The project team was comprised of Prof. Audrey Gadzekpo (lead), Dr Abena A. Yeboah-Banin, and Dr Gilbert Tietaah.
Doctoral and MPhil students in the Department served as research assistants.
