Legendary Highlife musician Amandzeba has discouraged industry players and ‘gatekeepers’ from blocking artistes who have left their management due to any disagreements.

According to him, doing so would hurt the music industry’s creativity and not just the artiste.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Amanzeba said any issue between an artiste and their management or investors should be left to them to settle in court.

“Before an artiste signs a contract with a manager or investor, there is a contractual agreement, so it is the court that decides who is wrong or right,” he stated.

Amanzeba added that “it is just not right for any media house or industry players to deliberately block an artiste because he/she has issues with their managers or investors. We are rather blocking creativity which will harm us in the end.

This comes after drill artiste, Black Sherif was criticised for allegedly leaving his investor high and dry to sign with another label.

When the issue reached the court of public opinion, many people bashed the young musician for his actions. But, the manager of Black Sherif, Madonna, in an interview with Da Don on Hitz FM dismissed the claims.

However, artiste manager, Mr. Logic and other industry persons following the controversy, advocated for blocking artistes after such disputes.

According to him, loyalty must be prioritised between artistes and their management.

Reiterating his point in an interview with Graphic Showbiz, he said that “the industry needs to start learning this loyalty, else these young musicians will drive all investors away.”

“I know a lot of managers who are no more in business because artistes accused them of stealing their monies. It is about time we protected these investors,” he said.

Meanwhile, Amanzeba believes that many of these young artistes’ creativity would help grow the industry hence the need to support them.

“I heard of Black Sherif’s issue and if it is anything to go by, I will rather suggest that we help him come out of the situation because he is a global asset. For instance, his collabo with Burna Boy is great.”

“Burna Boy is an international artiste and if a Ghanaian is going that far, all we can do is to support him rather than gang up against him. It will not do us any good. We are rather killing talents. Whatever problem he has with his manager or investor should be between them,” Amandzeba told Graphic Showbiz.
