Deputy Coordinator of the Free SHS Secretariat, Nana Afrah Sika Mensah, has disclosed that the outfit has been able to resolve a huge chunk of complaints received since the beginning of the 2022 Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).
She said more than 8,000 complaints and challenges have been dealt with successfully, adding that the remaining issues would be resolved to ensure affected students begin their studies.
A nationwide self-placement exercise commenced on March 28 for about 187,542 JHS students who could not get placed during the automatic placement.
As a result, Resolution Centres were set up across the country to assist the affected students.
In an interview with JoyNews on Wednesday, April 27, Nana Afrah Mensah stated that measures are being put in place to settle all issues pertaining to school placement by the close of this week.
“It's been five weeks since the Resolution Centre was set up. We have resolved majority of the issues brought to us; close to 8,000 issues that we had on our desk have been resolved.
“There are some students at home because they were enrolled as day students; so, we need to de-enroll them and make them boarders due to proximity issues. By the end of this week, all the issues will be resolved,” she assured.
Out of the total number of 571,892 registered candidates for the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE), 555,353 qualified to be placed, according to the Education Ministry.
Of the qualified candidates, 367,811 were automatically placed in one of their school choices.
The remaining 187,542 were asked to do self-placement to select from available schools since they could not be matched with any of their choices.
