The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to begin its regional delegates conference today, May 27, to elect new executives.
Three regions, including Northern, North East and Bono East will have their polls on Friday, with other regions scheduled for Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29.
Already, an injunction has been sought by some aggrieved persons in the Ekumfi Constituency from a Cape Coast High Court to restrain organisers of the Central Region conference from holding the elections.
There are also claims that the identity of some delegates representing the Council of Elders in the region, the TESCON representative and the 10 patrons in the region are not known to some of the aspirants.
In a related development, the Ashanti Regional conference, which was earlier slated for Friday, has been moved to Saturday, while the venue has been changed from the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
There is a higher expectation of whoever leads the Party in the Region to play crucial role in the NPP’s quest to break the eight.
The positions to be contested for include Regional Chairperson, First Regional Vice Chairperson, Second Regional Vice Chairperson, Regional Secretary and Assistant Regional Secretary.
Others are Regional Treasurer, Regional Organiser, Regional Women's Organiser, Regional Youth Organiser and Regional NASARA Coordinator.
Director of Elections and Research for the Party, Evans Nimaako, has said measures put in place will help to ensure a seamless and a transparent process.

“There are enough arrangements put in place by the Party to ensure that issues of disagreements, misunderstandings, outcome of vetting and all that are resolved. The processes put in place by the Party have been very consultative, participatory and have been very transparent.
“I am not foreseeing a situation where at the end of the exercise, anybody would raise concerns about the conduct of the process; I am hoping for the best," he told JoyNews.
