Asante Kotoko have confirmed the departure of Brazilian midfielder Fabio Dos Santos Gama after spending less than two years at the Kumasi-based club.
Gama leaves the club following the expiration of his two-year contract with the Porcupine Warriors after signing in October 2020 as a free agent.
Kotoko announced on their social media the 29-year-old opted out of renewing his contract due to personal and family reasons and the desire to explore other opportunities elsewhere.

A statement by the club stated that: "Gama explained the personal and family reasons related to the decision and Management are respectful of same. It was never an issue of the club’s inability to meet his demands as none was made.”
“We thank Fabio and his family for many wonderful memories, positive attitude and sense of professionalism during his stay. Asante Kotoko wish him the very best in his next adventure,” Kotoko added.
Gama made his debut against Medeama on December 27, 2021 after replacing Godfred Asiamah in the 83rd minute.
He enjoyed an impressive first season with the club playing 28 league matches, scoring 4 goals, and providing 6 assists. He won 4 man of the match awards and was also nominated for the Ghana Football Awards Home-based player of the year.
In October 2021, Gama emerged as the most attractive player in the Ghana Premier League based on the African Sports Centre for Data, Research and Technology's 2021 Ghana Premier League Report.
Injuries affected his start of the 2021/22 season only joining the team in the latter of the season to help the club secure its 24th top-flight title.
Gama made 48 appearances for the club scoring four times and making only two assists.
Gama is expected to feature for Bahraini side Muharraq Fc in the 2022/23 season.
