President Akufo-Addo has urged the members of the New Patriotic Party to remain united and resolute as it strives to provide good governance and economic development to the people of Ghana.
According to him, this is the historic agenda of the party, and with the support of God and NPP loyalists, the agenda will be achieved.
He was speaking at the 30th anniversary celebration of the formation of the New Patriotic Party held at the main auditorium of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).
The event is being held under the theme, "NPP@30: Our shared tradition, holding and working together a stable and prosperous nation."
He said, “We best celebrate our progress by remaining united and resolute as we continue to prosecute our historic agenda to provide good governance and economic development to our nation.
“And in so doing, we continue to commit ourselves to the protection of the Almighty, whose grace and favour we shall continue constantly to seek because our battle remains the battle of the Lord as we strive to make Ghana our motherland great and strong. It is an occasion for wishing all of us a happy 30th birthday.”
He then appealed to members of the NPP to help him achieve his “last great political feat” in office by handing over the mantle of governance to the next leader of the party in 2025.
“And I want to end by making one appeal to you, I want you to help me achieve the last great political feat of my career in Ghanaian politics, that on the 7th of January, 2025, I will go to Black Star Square to hand over the mantle to our next NPP president of the Republic who would have been chosen and supported and brought to victory.
“Victory in 2024! Victory in 2024! That’s our goal, that’s our target, and that we will achieve by the grace of God,” he said.
