Qatar Legacy Ambassador, Samuel Eto'o, believes Asamoah Gyan's desire to play for the Black Stars again at the 2022 FIFA World Cup is being driven by his love for the country.
Gyan has been in the news since last week after revealing he is targeting a return to the national team ahead of the World Cup to be staged in Qatar.
His comments during the interview with BBC have generated divided opinions from Ghanaians as well as his former colleagues.
However, Eto'o believes the forward's dream is because of the love he has for Ghana.
"The motivation [to play at the world cup] is because of his love for for his country and the champion player that he is," the former Cameroon forward said.
"I think it's a good thing to have a dream and I believe for all African sons that gave us joy while playing, it is just natural that they nurture such a dream.
"I hope that his dream becomes a reality. But as we are all aware, the final decision is that of the coach."
Eto'o was in Ghana as part of his multi-day tour.
