Since the government announced its domestic debt exchange programme on Sunday, December 4, workers of different sectors have expressed displeasure with the measure as fears of a ‘haircut’ on pension funds are imminent.
Labour unions, Public sector workers and some institutions have all rejected this debt restructuring process. However, the government has also said it is key to obtaining an IMF economic programme.
Tonight, PM Express will explore the potential burden the debt restructuring process will have on Ghanaians and what other alternatives are there for the government.
