Two of three persons said to be travelling from Obuasi to Tamale have died following an accident involving their car, while the third, a woman, has been hospitalised but in critical condition.
One of the dead, identified as Nana Kwasi Sarfo, is reported to be a staff of Newmont Gold. An earlier account of the story had claimed wrongly that he was a staff of Anglogold Ashanti. The other dead victim is also named as Kenneth Fordjuor while the injured is Princess Asiedu who is said to be responding to treatment at the Kintampo Government Hospital.
According to sources, the vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road near Kintampo in the Bono East Region after it burst a tyre, and hit a tree resulting in the death of two passengers.
The deceased have also been deposited at the Kintampo Hospital morgue.
This is one of a series of vehicular accidents that have occurred during the festive season.
Four days ago, three persons were reported dead with another in critical condition following an accident at Breman Boame- Nkwanta on the Breman Kuntenase road in the Central Region.
The accident occurred on Saturday morning.
Adom News’ Kofi Adjei reports that the accident involved a motor and a tricycle fully loaded with sachets of water.
Eyewitnesses said the accident occurred after the tricycle rider made a wrong overtaking resulting in a collision.
Two people on the motorbike died instantly including one person on the tricycle.
