The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) has announced that the power outage which occurred on Saturday, January 14 around 11:57 am was due to a systems disturbance.
GRIDCo in a statement said the power outage occurred as a result of a trip in its 330kv Aboadze-Anwomaso line.
The statement added that this resulted in a system disturbance causing all thermal plants, Bui generators and customer loads to trip.

GRIDCo said the cause of the trip in the power lines was a raging bush fire under its high-voltage lines near Tarkwa.
“A fire team is on site to bring the fire under control,” the statement noted.
The company assured that restoration of the grid has commenced and efforts are ongoing to bring back power to all affected areas and customers.
GRIDCo apologised for the inconvenience caused to many due to the power outage.
