Old students of the Presbyterian Boys' Senior High School held an electrifying bonfire night on Friday, April 21, 2023, to mark the event's return.

Following a three-year break due to the restrictions on public gatherings at the peak of Covid-19 in Ghana, the Presec Old Boys Association - officially called Ɔdadeɛ - organised an entertaining and, at times solemn, event on the school field.

The Ɔdadeɛ Torch & Bonfire Night has become, arguably, the country's biggest high school event, fusing school traditions with avant-garde entertainment, food and drink for the general public.

With Ghana's most celebrated rapper, Sarkodie, as headline act this year, the bonfire night climaxed with a party atmosphere. Before that, however, were performances from King Promise, Amerado and Eno Barony and a host of up-and-coming acts to keep the crowd buzzing.

As has become tradition, former Presec students on the music scene also made cameos, including Tulenkey and DeeJay.

It was not just about the party, however, as the 2012 and 2013 year groups of the school were inducted into the Ɔdadeɛ fraternity, symbolising their official transition into the old boys association.

The presidents of the two year groups pledged to uphold the tenets of the fraternity and to contribute their quota toward the school, as the forebears have.

In attendance were old students from as far back as 1968, including Supreme Court judge Nene Abayateye Ofoe Amegatcher, who was part of the first group of students to move from Presec's first home at Odumase Krobo to the current Legon campus.

"It is important for the newly inducted year groups to know what stock of people they come from, to feel proud of who we are, and to do more to better the lot of school and its image than those who came before them," Justice Amegatcher admonished.

Also present were executives of Ɔdadeɛ Global, led by its President, Dr Ernest Ofori Sarpong and his vice, Patricia Obo-Nai.

They had earlier led a symbolic torch procession from the school gate, through the main street of the campus, amidst jama and dancing.

The event was broadcast live on Joy FM and had DJ Black in charge of the turntables.
