The Founder of 3Music Awards, Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu, has responded to concerns about why the 2023 edition of the award has not been held yet.
These concerns stem from the fact that the 3Music Awards is usually held in March every year.
Sadiq told Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z that management of 3Media Network, organisers of the award scheme, will issue a statement on its current state in a few weeks.
“It will be unfair to preempt the answer. Our new CEO Rashidatu Abdulai is fully on top and in charge and I know a few of the things that they are planning and some of the things that they are doing. And so I really would like them to take it off from there," he said.
Asked if the awards will be held this year, Sadiq requested that the public waits for the team to officially make an announcement.
“There will be a communication. What I can say is that obviously between now and the next few weeks, there will be a communication in that regard. I know the team has been working around the clock to ensure that it happens but let’s all wait for the communication that will come for the team," he added.
Sadiq who is contesting for the parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress disputed claims that the 3Music Awards cannot be held this year because it is financially handicapped.
3Music Awards was founded by Baba Sadiq started in 2018. Through their innovative ideas they have won the heart of many who think they have become an alternative to the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
For some people, the establishment of 3Music Awards has made the music awards space in Ghana competitive.
The 5th edition of the scheme was held on 26 March 2022 at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre, in Accra.
