The Director-General of the Ghana Technical and Vocational Education and Training Service, Mawusi Nudekor Awity has urged Ghanaians to inculcate the practice of helping those who are less privilege in society.

According to her, the secret behind her current achievements is the numerous people she has been able to support over the years.

Coming from a Christian background, the Director-General believes giving paves the way for more blessings.

She said this while sharing her success journey in an exclusive interview with Joy Prime’s morning show host, Roselyn Felli on Wednesday.

"I’m a giver, and if I’ve given you something, you may think I have more, but that’s my last I’ve given to you because I feel that the Lord will touch somebody to give me. So Ghanaians must be a lot more philanthropic. They must learn to touch the lives of the critical matters because there are many people whose lives must be touched," she suggested.

Despite the fact that some people may not appreciate some good deeds, the social entrepreneur entreated individual helpers not to stop being generous.

Mawusi Awity further disclosed that her empathy towards vulnerable persons is due to her experience growing up, where her high school was catered for by her JHS headmistress.

Although her father was a superintendent, she struggled to continue her studies in high school because her father did not support the idea.

"… My father said he was never going to allow me to go to secondary school, but he told me to go and learn a trade. I used to write common entrance, but I won’t go to school," she revealed.

However, she turned the challenge into an opportunity and persevered to further her education.

Asked whether the mother was available or not to help. She said, "My mother left the marriage many years ago."

Mawusi Awity is the first female director-general of the Ghana Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Service. She was officially appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2021.

Due to her contribution to society, she has gained prestigious awards, including the 7^th Best Performing CEO in Ghana (2019); MTN 2019 Heroes of Change Award; Leading Innovative Women Honorary Award (2013) by the Global Women Innovative Network, UK, and Government of Ghana; Recognition of Outstanding Service to Mankind and Womanhood by Methodist University College, Ghana (2013), among others.
