Sixteen senior high schools in the Ashanti region are poised to win the ultimate in the 2023 edition of the Luv FM High School Debate.
Beginning Monday, June 19, the debaters will compete with arguments on motions based on matters of national significance.

16 Senior High schools in the Ashanti region qualified for the main contest of the Luv Fm High School Debate.

These were among 110 schools signing up to participate in the preliminary knock-out stage of the contest.

The qualifying schools will debate for dominance in a variety of motions based on matters of national and global importance.
Each school will bow to the dexterity, resilience, hunger for success, and the brain powers of their opponents.

Speaking at the event launch, General Manager of Luv Fm, Jimmy Aglah, said the debate has seen consistent improvement over the years.
“This competition among senior high schools in the Ashanti region has seen consistent improvement over the years, with a lot more schools signing up to participate in this year’s edition. We at The Multimedia Group pledge to continue to serve our audience and community with good quality content” he said.

Ashanti regional Chair of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS), Suleman Yeboah, highlighted the importance of the debate competition for students.
He is hoping the competition will be extended to other regions.
“Debate hones critical thinking skills of students and allows them to inspect and scrutinize the matter of discussion. I support the fact that this competition should be extended to other regions” he said.

Students of some competing schools are optimistic of victory.
In the next four weeks, all 16 senior high schools will face off for the ultimate title as the best debating school.
