Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, lashed out at some Black Meteors players after their disappointing draw against Guinea on Friday night.
Not winning their final group game at the ongoing 2023 U23 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco means they were elminated at the first round of the Olympic qualifying tournament.
Reacting to the uninspiring performance that led to a 1-1 drawn game against an unfancied Guinea side, the 2004 Olympic Games participant felt some players were over hogging the ball.
"What I saw in this Black Meteors team is some players think they are bigger than the whole team. Small hype and fame? SHM," the Ghana all-time top scorer wrote on Twitter.
"Modern football is not about only what you do with the ball. It’s about what you do without the ball. I see players thinking the can play alone. It’s about time we wake up and defend when we lose the ball. SMH."
By the time the 2024 Olympic Games are held in Paris, it will be 20 years since the Black Meteors last participated in the multi-sport competition.
