The Vice Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abanga Yakubu Alhassan, is expected to steer the affairs of the party over the next six days.
This follows a visit by the substantive Chairman of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, to India.
A statement by the party's Director of Communication, Kakra Essamuah, made this known on Wednesday evening.
Prior to Asiedu Nketiah's trip, his last official outing was at a press conference on Monday, where he bemoaned the litany of problems surrounding the ongoing limited voters' registration exercise by the Electoral Commission.
According to him, the reports of malfunctioning devices at strongholds of the NDC smacks of ploys by the Commission to work against the NDC in the 2024 general election.
He therefore warned that the party will resist any foul attempts by the EC to ruin the transparency and credibility of the 2024 polls.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission begun the exercise on Tuesday at its district offices across the country despite a pending interlocutory injunction by the NDC and four other minority parties.
The Commission says according to its projections, it will register some 1.3 million new voters who have attained the legal age of 18 years since the last registration exercise in 2020.
The 21-day exercise starts from 8:00am to 5:00pm each day, including weekends. It will end on October 2, 2023.
