The Sogbe Amalgamated Family Union (SOAFAU) has been launched in Akatsi, in the Akatsi South District of the Volta Region to foster development and unite the family which had dispersed over the years.
The Executive Vice Chair of the Union, Torgbui Xedzro-Akoeda Sogbe emphasised that the family would raise funds to undertake projects targeted at educational, economic, and social development within the Sogbe family and its allies.
“In times of joy or adversity, we are stronger together. This union will enable us to pool our resources, share our experiences, and support one another in our personal and collective endeavors", he said.
He said the union would serve as a powerful catalyst for unity and reconnection, bridging geographical gaps that had separated family members and allies.
"We are a diverse family, with members pursuing various professions and residing in different places. Yet, our shared history, culture, and values bind us together. By forming this union, we are not only celebrating our common roots but also working towards a more connected and supportive family network”, he remarked.
He explained that the Union will facilitate initiatives such as scholarship programmes, skills development workshops, and community outreach projects, “thereby contributing to the growth and betterment of the larger community”.

Torgbui Xedzro emphasised that focus would be given to the preservation of cultural heritage and traditions indicating “our traditions define us and make us who we are. Through this union, we will ensure that our customs, stories, and values are not forgotten but cherished and perpetuated.
Together, we are poised to make a positive impact not only within our family but also in the broader community. Our strength lies in our unity, and our future is as bright as the unity we forge today."
The launch of the Sogbe Amalgamated Family Union was marked with joyous celebrations, traditional performances, and heartfelt reunions among family members and allies who hadn't seen each other in years.
