Ghanaian singer Mzbel has hinted at possible collaborations with Nigeria’s music sensations, Burna Boy and Don Jazzy.
According to her, her team has been in contact with the two musicians for some time regarding a feature, which is still in the works. She is however confident that the deal will be finalised in due course.
Mzbel made this revelation in an interview with Amelley Djosu on the Celeb Biz show, which airs on Joy Prime.
“I’ve always been trying so hard to get Burna Boy to work with. If I get him or not, I’m trying to get Don Jazzy to work with me. So, fingers crossed. My team and theirs are in touch... Hopefully, it’s 70/30 from the way it looks now. So, something from Nigeria and Mzbel may come out soon,” she teased.
The songstress further mentioned some reasons why Ghanaian females are struggling to break through the music industry.
She stated that they do not avail themselves for collaborations as much as guys do, regardless of the fact that the sector is male-dominated.
In addition, she recounted how her efforts to feature other female artistes have proven futile because they failed to show up.
“Mostly, we like to do it solo. I don’t know why. I’ve tried several times to get some girls to work with, and they’ll always give you excuses, but they never showed up. But when you call the guys, they’re willing to come,” she said.
However, the “Asibolanga” hitmaker is convinced that the future is promising for female singers, but only if they open up and work together like males do.
Born Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, Mzbel has released several hit songs, including some collaborations with colleague musicians. But the majority of her featured songs are with men.
