Two persons were killed in a shooting at Georgia Junction in Monrovia following a clash between the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change and the All Liberia Coalition Party, ALCOP on Sunday evening.
The incident comes less than 48 hours to the country’s General Elections.
One of the two shots is identified as a CDC member. Perpetrators of the crime are on the run.
According to reports, the shooting was preceded by the pelting of stones between supporters of the two parties who ran into each other as they went on a street march as part of activities to end their campaigns.
Eyewitnesses told local journalists that ALCOP was wrapping up their campaign on one side of the four-lane freeway, while the supporters of the CDC were on the other side of the freeway heading towards their party headquarters.

Police have commenced an investigation into the matter, making efforts to arrest the perpetrators of the crime.
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has taken interest in the situation, impressing on the police to bring perpetrators to book.
Already, ECOWAS is considering increasing logistical support for the security agencies.
“We are in touch with the police to make sure electoral security is top-notch. As we speak we are also in the process to see whether we can support the security agencies with non-lethal material for election security,” said Abdul-Fatau Musah, Commissioner of Political Affairs and Security.
ECOWAS is counting on assurances from the police for a peaceful election.
Abdul-Fatau Musah spoke about the signing of peace declaration by the political parties “with the promises we have got with the political parties we are sure of a peaceful election”.
