Singer and songwriter Samini has expressed his disappointment in the government for initiating the National Cathedral project.
In an interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, the singer said that the project connotes misplaced priorities, especially for an underdeveloped country.
“I was disappointed,” Samini said. “I think it is a misplaced priority at this time for any developing country,” he added.
The reggae star added that he would not expect the next government to finish the National Cathedral project if it is left undone by the present government.
He also added that people do not necessarily have to go to church to take part in worship in these times.
“Today, everything is so smart that people will listen to a podcast at home as their Sunday church rather than get up and go anywhere.”
The ‘Odo’ singer also noted that the resources involved in building the Cathederal could be channelled into different sectors that would create employment for the youth.
He concluded by establishing the fact that he was not against the idea of worshipping God, however, if churches could be transformed for the betterment of the economy, it would be great.
Samini is currently promoting his latest single, 'Good Vibes'.
