Ghana's Vice President and newly elected flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has charged the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Pietr Fiala to help strengthen trade relations between the two countries.
According to Bawumia, reinforcing bilateral relations would create more jobs and boost trade activities in the two States.
“We want to see more in that direction so that the private sector can benefit from this increasing relationship between Ghana and the Czech Republic,” he said on Wednesday.
The NPP Flagbearer said Ghana is a most peaceful country which makes it a very suitable place for investors, hence enforcing trade relations is a step in the right direction.
“Ghana is a good place for doing business. We are the most peaceful country in West Africa, we are the second most peaceful country in Africa and so it is very important for anybody interested in Africa to consider Ghana a place for doing business”, he said.
Dr. Bawumia made this call when the Prime Minister visited him at the Jubilee House to congratulate him on his victory as flagbearer.
Also, the Vice President seized the opportunity to express his gratitude to the Czech Republic for establishing a scholarship scheme that affords Ghanaians the opportunity to pursue higher education in his country.
For his part, Mr Fiala said Ghana is one of the most important trade partners hence the Czech Republic has approved a new strategy that would help improve trade cooperation.
“Ghana is one of our five most important trade partners in Sub-Sahara Africa. Last year the value of our export in your country reached 22 million dollars, and the import reached three million dollars,” he said.
