Health workers at Atwede3 in the Ahafo Region have raised concerns about how the lack of telecommunication network coverage is hindering their ability to provide quality healthcare services.
The employees of Atwede3 Hospital explained to Adom News that the community's inadequate network infrastructure has had a detrimental impact on their work, posing significant challenges in delivering healthcare services to residents.
The lack of reliable connectivity not only hinders their efforts but also complicates the provision of essential healthcare services to the local populace.
According to the health workers, they are forced to travel considerable distances away from the facility to locate a network signal, making it difficult for them to process essential documents required by the district health directorate in Kenyasi.
“When people are coming for healthcare service, you need to dial some code from their insurance card to send to insurance office so that they can send you some number to write in their folder, that is the record we take to insurance office to take money when the month is due, but because they lack network in their community, when people come for health care we need to trek to some school park down their community to go and dial their code before we can take care of them," a nurse said.
In addition to the inadequate network coverage, the health workers expressed dismay over the substandard road infrastructure, which is also impacting the quality of healthcare services provided.
“Our road is very bad, also there’s no car in the hospitals, when we are to refer people to our big health centers, there’s no way you can send them because people with cars don’t want to drive because of their poor roads."
The health workers have appealed to the relevant authorities to address these critical issues urgently to ensure that they can provide uninterrupted and quality healthcare services to the community.
