Some Police officers have been deployed to Osino Presby Senior High and Technical School following a violent clash between students and residents of the Nsuapemso community in the Fanteakwa South District.
The incident resulted in the death of one person while vehicles have been burnt.
The confrontation unfolded on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, prompting authorities to station personnel at the school and its surroundings to prevent potential reprisal attacks.
Reports suggest that tension had been simmering since a previous altercation on Monday, February 19, 2024, when a student allegedly confiscated a phone from a community member and assaulted him during a debate in another locality.
Seeking retaliation, the community members returned the next day, leading to a violent confrontation.
During the clash, six individuals attempted to set fire to the boys dormitory but were subdued by students. One of the attackers was captured, beaten severely, and later pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Additionally, reports indicate that the students set fire to a vehicle belonging to one of the community members.
In response, the Fanteakwa South District Security Council (DISEC) convened an emergency meeting and dispatched police officers from the district, along with reinforcements from Koforidua, to restore order and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
