Otto Addo was the most impressive candidate among the over hundred applications received by the Black Stars coach search committee, says Kojo Addae Mensah, a member of the committee.
Otto Addo has been handed a 34-month contract with an option for a further 24 months, following a lengthy but significant emergency meeting of the Executive Council on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
According to Kojo Addae Mensah, the search committee received over 100 applications but Otto Addo was exceptional in the interview process and was the most impressive among the lot.
The former Asante Kotoko Express columnist who spoke to Luv Sports in Kumasi, further emphasised that though there were some excellent individuals among the coaches who applied for the job, the former Ghana international was overly outstanding.
"Yes indeed there were over a hundred applications but Otto Addo really impressed me. I must admit that he proved to me that he knew what he was about, he knew the team, and he told us what he would have done differently in hindsight," he said.
"He knows the players, he knows their psyche, the GFA has written their DNA and he knows about it and he is really impressed I must confess. But he was not the only one who impressed, there were quite a number of people who were also quite impressive but bottom line Otto was very impressive."
Otto Addo will be allowed by Borussia Dortmund to join Ghana for this month’s international friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda, after which he will travel back to the club to officially part ways with them.
