The destruction of three Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) pylons by a heavy rainstorm on Tuesday, April 23, has resulted in power outages affecting nine communities in the Shama District of the Western Region.
The incident has disrupted the activities of the affected communities, prompting concerns about the restoration of power supply.
In response, the Western Regional ECG has assured customers that efforts are underway to restore power supply to the affected areas.
Engineer Martin Djan, the Sekondi District Manager of ECG, spoke to Citi TV during an inspection of restoration works at Essipon. He reassured customers in the affected communities that power would be restored within 24 hours, as engineers are working diligently to resolve the issue.
The ECG manager appealed for patience from customers, emphasizing that the restoration works are being prioritised to minimise inconvenience for the affected communities.
“Yesterday we had a severe challenge that had to do with the breaking down of three of our out pylons on the Ketan BSP stretch up to Inchaban sub-station because of heavy downpours. We have more of our communities down at the moment without power…Currently, we are doing our maximum best to restore power, so what I have done is contract three of my best contractors who are currently on site.
“We have planned that within 24 hours we should be able to bring back the power so that our customers can enjoy power," he said.
