The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is aiming to win over 85% of the total votes in the Volta Region in the upcoming general elections in December 2024.

The Volta Regional NDC Vice Chairperson, Egypt Kudeto who announced this charged his comrades to form part of the party’s machinery to achieve the target.

He was speaking at the 24-hour health walk held in Kpetoe in the Agotime Ziope District in the Volta Region.

Mr Kudeto urged the party faithful to support the party financially to mobilise logistics to undertake its campaign activities.

“We are appealing that you help us financially to fuel our vehicles for campaigns. So on January 7, 2025, people will be transported to Independence Square [for the swearing-in] because John Mahama is winning [the presidential election]. Volta Region, we are giving JM more than 85%-90% [of total votes]”.

The Agotime Ziope Member of Parliament, Charles Agbeve said the NDC Presidential Candidate would emerge victorious in the presidential elections, with the NDC winning 150 seats in parliament.

He indicated that every single development project in his jurisdiction was undertaken by the NDC and chastised the New Patriotic Party for failing to initiate any project in the area.

“John Mahama is in opposition but he made available bulldozers to reshape our roads. If he is not a nation-builder, then what is he? He is constructing roads in opposition, imagine what will happen when he comes to power”, he said.

Mr Agbeve added that the NPP government decided not to construct the Ho-Denu Road though it had budgeted for it in 2021, because “they say they don't get votes here”.

He stressed that the proposed 24-economy would help curb the rising unemployment rates in the country.

“For our children and the youth to have the opportunity to be enrolled into the security services, get employed, it is the 24-hour economy under John Mahama that can see this manifested. Let us vote for him”

Mr Agbeve expressed worry at the delay in clearing the remnant of medical supplies donated by Global Fund at the Tema Port, adding that the Ministry of Health would face their wrath if the supplies were not cleared after the two-week ultimatum expired.

The NDC Ketu North Parliamentary Candidate, Edem Agbana said that Mr Agbeve had served like an orphan in parliament because his party wasn't in power hence, he could not undertake enough development projects in the constituency.

He assured that Mr Agbeve would merit a ministerial appointment when Mahama wins in 2024 to harness the needed development in the area.

He also warned against skirt and blouse voting in the general elections.

“Skirt and bluose? What does that mean? Do not vote skirt and blouse. When somebody tells you he is a youth, so you vote for him and Mahama, tell him you don't know him”, Mr. Agbagba advised.

The National NDC Deputy Communications Officer, Malik Bosintale charged the party in Agotime Ziope to work to reduce the votes of the NPP in the general elections.

He called on them to be vigilant on the election day and protect the ballot box, promising the next NDC government would pay back the Volta Region exceedingly with development projects, for overwhelmingly voting for the party.

The Volta Regional Youth Organizer, Mathias Alagbo entreated NDC members to become the mouthpiece of the party and spread its message at every public gathering they find themselves.

“We must talk about the hardships in the country and the good message of NDC at every public gathering. We need volunteers to work and criticism to win the elections”, he said.

The Former Member of Parliament for Agotime Ziope, Julianna Azumah Mensah reiterated the NDC’s promise to establish a Women’s Bank to provide funding for women entrepreneurs.

“Under a John Mahama government, we will have a bank solely for women traders. Women will take money from the bank for their businesses and take care of their families”, he said.

The Agotime Ziope Constituency Youth Organiser, Sena Nutekpor stressed the return of the NDC to power but said it is dependent on the grassroots to mobilise the masses to vote for John Mahama.

“Former President Mahama must return to rescue this country. This year’s campaign and election are just like a community service to save Ghana", he said.
