The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, officially submitted his nomination for the 2024 presidential election at the Electoral Commission (EC) headquarters.
Dr Bawumia, accompanied by his running mate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, arrived at the EC on Monday morning, drawing a crowd of enthusiastic supporters dressed in the party's colours.
The filing marks a significant step in the NPP’s preparation for the upcoming election.
Key members of the NPP accompanied Dr. Bawumia to the EC. Among them were NPP General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, and National Chairman, Stephen Ntim.
These prominent figures joined Dr Bawumia in a show of solidarity and support as he completed the nomination process.
Also present were Dr. Bawumia’s wife, Samira Bawumia, and his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, affectionately known as NAPO.
Their spouses also joined the delegation, further emphasizing the strong family and party ties within the NPP.
The Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, stood by her husband’s side, showing support as the campaign for the 2024 election gained momentum.
In addition to party executives, other influential figures attended the event. Majority Leader, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, and Mustapha Abdul Hamid, Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), were part of the group.
Their presence signalled the importance of the occasion and the backing of high-ranking officials within the party.
Supporters of the NPP, clad in blue and white Lacoste shirts, gathered outside the EC headquarters to show their enthusiasm for Dr Bawumia’s candidacy.
The sea of party faithful cheered as the flagbearer and his team entered the building, creating a festive atmosphere around the event.
