Ghana and Sudan will clash in a crucial AFCON qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, with both teams in need of maximum points.
Sudan, who are led by former Black Stars player and coach, Kwesi Appiah, currently occupy the last automatic spot and could deny Ghana a place at the next AFCON if results go their way.
The game has been touted as a battle between the two coaches in Appiah against Otto Addo.
However, assistant coach of Sudan, Ignatius Osei Fosu, insists Kwesi Appiah’s focus isn’t on Otto Addo, saying the 64 year old has nothing to prove.
“Kwesi Appiah has nothing to prove. His coaching credentials are there for all to see. For me, nobody even knows I’m the assistant coach of Sudan.
“We just want to qualify and that’s the aim. It’s just unfortunate we have to face Ghana. I wish this match didn’t happen,” he said.
Sudan have never beaten Ghana in Ghana, and will be looking to change that in Thursday’s game.
