Radio Broadcaster Mr. Haglah has shown up strong at this year’s Guinness Ghana DJ Awards with a nomination in one of its prestigious categories.
The host of Sun Up Melodies and Musik Box on Accra’s favorite entertainment radio station, Hitz FM, has been nominated for the Best Reggae and Dancehall DJ of the Year award.

The nomination is significant because it’s his premier nomination from the Merqury Republic-produced event after over a decade. Mr. Haglah, since taking over the Hitz FM’s Saturday morning show a little over a year ago, has exhibited his deep knowledge in, and appreciation for classic reggae and dancehall records, and has been widely-acclaimed as one of the best disc-jockeys / ‘selectors’ for the long-standing genre.

It therefore comes as no surprise to earn his first nomination in the Reggae and Dancehall category at the 11th Guinness Ghana DJ Awards, scheduled to take place at the Palms Convention Center, La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra on November 9, 2024.
Mr. Haglah, known in real life as Joshua Nii Sackey Allotey, will face stiff opposition from fellow broadcasters and DJs in the category, but says he hopes to take the coveted award home. He thus, has entreated his followers to show their support by voting him as the ‘Best Reggae and Dancehall DJ’ via shortcode *714*66#, followed by 537.

A win for him would add to his incredible repertoire including being awarded the Best Radio Producer at the 2023 Ghana Entertainment Awards USA.
Mr. Haglah has led various production roles at Hitz 103. 9 FM for close to two decades, and is currently the executive producer for its award-winning entertainment morning show Daybreak Hitz every week day.
