On October 28, King Mohammed VI welcomed Emmanuel Macron to the Royal Palace in Rabat for a bilateral meeting during the French President’s state visit to Morocco, which runs through to October 30.
This meeting marks the beginning of a new era in Morocco-France relations, centred on a renewed partnership and a strategic roadmap for future collaboration.
According to a statement from the Royal Office, both leaders aim to bolster the multifaceted ties between Morocco and France, addressing mutual ambitions while tackling global challenges together.
Their discussions highlighted the need to strengthen collaboration across the Euro-Mediterranean, African, and Atlantic regions to support sustainable development and regional prosperity.
They emphasised the importance of deepening the partnership across the Mediterranean to build a stable, prosperous, and sustainable future that addresses socio-economic and environmental concerns.
President Macron commended King Mohammed VI’s role as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee for advancing peace in the Middle East.
Both leaders called for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza and Lebanon, emphasising the need to protect civilians, facilitate humanitarian aid, and prevent further regional escalation.
They reiterated the urgency of reviving the peace process within a two-state solution, aiming for an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
President Macron extended an invitation to King Mohammed VI for a State Visit to France, which the King accepted.
The date of the visit will be set through diplomatic channels.
