Dr. Donald Agumenu, Special Assistant to late President Rawlings has described his boss as a "pillar of hope and integrity" for the Ghanaian society.
Paying glowing tribute on the fourth anniversary of the passing of Flt. Lt Jerry John Rawlings on Tuesday, Dr. Donald Agumenu said his boss blazed "through trials, tribulations and uncommon complexities" to bequeath a worthy legacy in Ghana's democratic process.
"The density of his contributions to Ghana's democratic architecture, peace and security transcended the corridors of Africa," he observed.

According to Dr. Agumenu, former President Rawlings "will forever be remembered by both his lovers and adversaries at large as the man who stood for truth and justice."
The former advisor appealed to Ghanaians not to forget the values and ideals President Rawlings stood for, and take steps to marshal forces towards another democratic project for peaceful elections on December 7.
"He handed over power notwithstanding and lived to protect, nurture and deepen Ghanaian cause for freedom and justice," he stated.
To commemorate the occasion, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) held a special wreath-laying ceremony at the party headquarters in Accra.

Mr. Kofi Attoh, a member of the Cadres Corps addressed the gathering, disclosing that the National Executive Committee of the NDC has been presented with a proposal to approve the birthday of the former President as a holiday from next year.
Former President Rawlings succumbed to a short sickness at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on 12th November, 2020.
He is considered as the father of Ghana's Fourth Republican experiment, having played critical roles in birthing it and handing over power peacefully to another political dispensation after peaceful elections in 2000.
