The Regent of Akrofuom, Nana Anim Agyekum II, has pledged, on behalf of his people, their support for the Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
During Dr Bawumia's Ashanti Regional tour on Tuesday morning, he visited the Akrofuom Constituency and engaged with stakeholders to share his vision for the country.
Welcoming Dr Bawumia on behalf of the chiefs and people of the area, Nana Anim Agyekum praised President Akufo-Addo and the NPP for the development brought to the area and assured Dr Bawumia, whom he described as a "future leader," of their unwavering support.
“Here, our main occupation is petty trading, and we needed a good market for our traders. Now we have a large market, among other projects,” said the Chief, who also acknowledged the commitment of the District Chief Executive and the NPP Parliamentary Candidate.
“Future leader, please, I would like to request that you extend our gratitude to President Akufo-Addo. Tell him that when you came here, the people of Akrofuom said they are very grateful to him. Tell him the Chief and his people are very grateful.”
While assuring Dr Bawumia of their support, Nana Anim Agyekum praised him for his wisdom and urged him to be steadfast as President.
“As you come, stay resolute, for God has blessed you with wisdom and bravery,” he said.
“The way Ghanaians have accepted you, we have also joined them in embracing you. We have taken you as our son because we know you will not disappoint us.”
The Chief further commended the government for the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP) machinery provided, urging the district to expedite upgrades on some of the roads he mentioned.
Dr Bawumia assured the Chiefs and people of the area of his commitment to continue the support the NPP has extended to the community.
Dr Bawumia stated that, with their support, he would be more accountable to the people, as he would need to seek re-election, unlike his opponent, who would not return for re-election.
