The Roads and Highways Minister, Francis Asenso-Boakye, has addressed the delays in some development partner-funded road projects.

Speaking during the commissioning of the Flower Pot Interchange on Tuesday, November 19, Mr Boakye attributed the stalled Tema-Aflao project to measures taken under the government’s debt exchange program.

The Minister specifically highlighted the stalled Tema-Aflao and Tema-Akosombo road projects, assuring commuters of interim interventions.

“As you may be aware, certain development partner-funded projects including the Tema Aflao road, have unavoidable delays due to measures implemented under the debt exchange programme specifically for the Tema Aflao road," he said.

“For the Tema-Aflao road, the mobile maintenance unit of the National Roads Authority has been tasked to undertake targeted interventions in the coming days to provide some relief to commuters,” he added.

Mr Asenso-Boakye added that similar maintenance is being rolled out for other impacted projects as negotiations continue with development partners to secure the resources necessary for their full completion.

Acknowledging the inconvenience caused by the delays, Mr. Boakye called on Ghanaians "to remain patient and continue to support us [government] as we work to address these challenges."
