The 11th edition of the Global Fashion Week came off on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at the Marriot Hotel in Accra.
The event served as a platform for the display of a collection of awesome designs by some of Ghana’s most gifted fashion designers.
Graced by Amelia Edwards, the Second Secretary of the Australian High Commission in Ghana and a host of high-ranking officials from the commission, the event also showcased the product of a fusion of Australia’s rich fashion industry and Ghana’s much-avowed fashion industry.

In a brief speech, Amelia Edwards revealed that their decision to partner with the event for a second time stems from their dedication to economically empowering women and supporting Ghanaian creatives.Â
She highlighted that the rich history of Australia's fashion industry combined with Ghana's renowned textile industry creates a promising partnership that, with the right investment, could achieve global success.

Edwards emphasized the commission's consistent support for Ghanaian women, noting that the fashion industry offers another platform to empower them.
She also mentioned that the Australian High Commission has been working closely with women in the industry to support their craft and provide growth opportunities.
Some of the designers whose amazing works were displayed to the world include Emerging Designs, Gladys Mamle Designs, Diana, Etornam, and Justine Designs, among others.

Speaking to the press after the event, the designer expressed gratitude to the organizers for providing them the platform to showcase their collection to the world.
They believe that platforms like the Global Fashion Week will help develop the Ghanaian fashion industry and help empower women in the sector.
The event also saw the exhibition of talented Australian-Ghanaian photographer, Sean Okai and the tasting of premium Australian wine.
