The Chairman of the Northern Development and Democratic Institute (NDDI), Naa Tapha Mahamadu III, has commended Ghana’s political and electoral stakeholders for their commitment to maintaining the country’s reputation as a beacon of democracy in West Africa.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Bolgatanga, Upper East Region, after touring 28 polling stations, Naa Tapha Mahamadu III highlighted the smooth commencement of voting across Northern Ghana.
He noted the confidence expressed by political representatives at various polling stations as a testament to the collective determination to uphold peace and unity.

“It is 1 p.m. now, and our team has already visited about 320 polling stations across Northern Ghana. We have spoken to EC staff, security personnel, political party representatives, and voters, and all I can say preliminarily is, so far so good,” he said.
Leading a 120-member NDDI independent observer team, Naa Tapha Mahamadu III, who is also the Paramount Chief of Dalun in the Northern Region, urged stakeholders to sustain the maturity and good faith demonstrated so far.
“We have to maintain the maturity and camaraderie expressed together so far in this sacred civic and constitutional duty to make Ghana proud,” he stated, calling on all citizens to support the Electoral Commission to ensure a peaceful completion of the exercise.
The NDDI Chairman also praised the Electoral Commission for its efforts, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in safeguarding Ghana’s peace and progress.
“Ghana is the only country we have, and we should all work together to jealously guard its peace and progress,” he said.

Naa Tapha Mahamadu III assured the public that the NDDI would continue monitoring the election process across Northern Ghana, providing support to ensure an outcome that reflects the will of the people.
He indicated that the NDDI will continue to monitor the exercise across the entire Northern Ghana to support all stakeholders to work and produce an electoral outcome that reflects the will of the people of Ghana.
“The NDDI will issue a report after the elections”.
