Eight hours after the close of polls in the December 7 general elections, the collation of results is yet to commence in several constituencies across the country.
As a result, not a single certified result has been declared by the Electoral Commission leaving citizens anxious.
The Electoral Commission (EC) had earlier announced that the collation of both presidential and parliamentary results was underway at all 276 constituency collation centres.
According to the Commission, about 60 per cent of polling station results had been received at the constituency collation centres by the time of their update.
However, delays have been reported, with results yet to be processed in many areas despite polls closing at 5:00 PM on Saturday.
The delays are attributed to incidents of chaos and confusion at various polling stations nationwide regarding the transportation of ballots to collation centres.
There's also chaos at some collation centres where party supporters have been forcing their way into the centres although the space only admits accredited persons.
The EC had previously reminded all political parties and presidential candidates that collation centres are restricted areas, accessible only to accredited individuals.
In light of this, reports reaching Myjoyonline.com indicate that the collation process is now underway in some constituencies.
It said presiding officers from various polling stations are reportedly queuing to have their results validated for the collation and declaration of results.
In the Ashaiman constituency of the Greater Accra region, for instance, JoyNews' Carlos Lorlonyo reports that so far, only results from 36 out of 357 polling stations have been collated.
He predicts that it is going to be a long process, as some EC officials and party agents are already succumbing to sleep.
