Works and Housing Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has retained the Ofoase/Ayirebi parliamentary seat for the third time.
Mr Nkrumah, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) member who has represented the constituency since 2016 and previously served as Information Minister, got 18,601 votes.
His closest challenger, Alfred Osei-Poku of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), garnered 13,415 votes.
While Nkrumah secured his position, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has made notable strides in other constituencies in the Ashanti region.
The NDC also managed to flip the Mpohor and Sekondi seats, both previously held by the NPP.
In Mpohor, Henry Godfred Bentil emerged victorious over the incumbent, John Kobina Abbam Aboah Sanie, securing 11,680 votes while Sanie got 8,299 votes.
Similarly, in Sekondi, Blay Nyameke Armah of the NDC defeated Andrew Egyapa Mercer, Tourism Minister, with Armah securing 14,558 votes, representing 56.40% of the total valid votes, while Mercer obtained 11,084 votes, or 42.94%.
A total of 25,813 votes were cast in Sekondi, with 171 votes rejected. These victories highlight the NDC’s momentum in critical constituencies.
