The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has assured Ghanaians that the NPP will not be a disruptive opposition following the 2024 general elections.
Dr Bawumia made the statement during a press conference at his residence on Sunday, December 8.
He emphasised that the NPP's focus will be on constructive criticism and supporting policies that benefit the nation, rather than engaging in actions that could destabilise the country.
Dr Bawumia stated that the NPP respects the will of the people and would work in the best interest of the nation, irrespective of the electoral outcome.
The vice-presidential candidate also called on his supporters to embrace peace and unity, stressing that the party’s role as the opposition would be to hold the government accountable, without undermining the democratic process.
He urged all Ghanaians to collaborate for the country’s development and to put national interest above partisan politics.
I want to assure him (Mahama) and Ghanaians that we will not be a disruptive opposition but we will do a thorough job and our MPs will do a good for Ghana," he assured.
