Majority Leader in Parliament and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has expressed his gratitude for the peace that continues to prevail in Ghana.

Speaking via phone on Joy FM's Super Morning Show, he reflected on the country’s stability after the recent elections, stating, "We thank God for the peace we have in the country." he said

Despite the tense atmosphere during the election period, Mr Afenyo Markin noted that the country had conducted itself well.

"Although the election atmosphere was tense, we have managed to maintain peace and unity as a nation," he stated.

As Christmas approaches, Mr Afenyo Markin reminded Ghanaians of the importance of national unity.

He emphasised that, regardless of political differences, the Ghanaian spirit is what binds everyone together.

"Politics will come and go," he said.

"We may have our differences and ideologies, but what unites us all is the Ghanaian spirit. Let’s remember that we are one people, bound by a common purpose and love for our country."

Looking beyond the festive season, Mr Afenyo Markin pointed out that the development of the country should remain a top priority for all.

He called for the creation of a nation where fairness and equal opportunity are paramount.

"As we celebrate Christmas, let us also remember that building a fair, just, and equitable country should be our focus," he said.

"When we create a nation with equal opportunities for everyone, there will be no need for disruptions. We must keep our eyes on the prize—national development."

The Majority Leader also shared his belief in Ghana’s potential, stating that the country can achieve its goal of becoming "the gateway to Africa." He stressed that Ghanaians must continue to work together to make this a reality.

In his message to party members, Mr Afenyo Markin reassured them that there is still hope, even though the recent election results did not favour the NPP.

"Even though we did not win the election, there is still a bright future ahead for us," he affirmed.

"We need to act collectively, remain hopeful, and enjoy this festive season. There is much to look forward to, and the future is still bright for all of us."

Mr Afenyo Markin reiterated his gratitude for the peace in Ghana, acknowledging the resilience of the people in maintaining unity during a politically charged time.

"The peace we have in this country is a blessing," he said.

"We must continue to nurture this peace and ensure that it remains the foundation upon which we build our future," he said.
