The Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) has congratulated Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang on her election as Vice President of Ghana, marking her as the first woman to hold the position in Ghana.
In a statement issued on Monday, December 30, 2024, CDD-Ghana highlighted its pride in Prof Opoku-Agyemang’s historic achievement, recalling her significant contributions as a founding member of the Center’s Governing Board from 1998 until she was appointed Minister for Education in 2013.
The Center expressed optimism that as Vice President, she will continue to advocate for key issues integral to CDD-Ghana’s mission, including transparent governance, public integrity, and inclusive social and economic development.
“We hope that, as Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang will continue to champion the issues and causes that are both central to the mission of CDD-Ghana and vital to Ghana’s national development,” part of the statement read.
The Center also wished Prof Opoku-Agyemang good health and success in her tenure, emphasizing its confidence in her leadership and dedication to the service of Ghana.
