In a heartfelt message of congratulation, Gabriel Kwamigah Tanko Kwabla Atokple, a distinguished philanthropist, entrepreneur, and Council of State hopeful, has lauded President John Dramani Mahama and his running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, on their historic and well-deserved electoral victory.
As the founder of the Tanko Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting underprivileged communities in Ghana, and a prominent voice in Ghana’s gold export sector, Mr. Atokple expressed profound optimism about the future of Ghana under President Mahama's renewed leadership.
Speaking during an exclusive interaction, Mr. Atokple extolled the resilience and vision of President Mahama and his team.
“First of all, I would like to extend a very big congratulations to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama and my own mother, Her Excellency Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang. Their victory represents hope and a renewed sense of purpose for all Ghanaians. This victory is not just for them; it is for the collective future of our great nation,” he remarked.
Mr. Atokple highlighted the challenges faced by young entrepreneurs like himself under previous policies, particularly in the gold sector. As a licensed dealer in the buying, selling, and exportation of gold globally, he lamented how certain policies in the past had stifled growth and created an unequal playing field. “We have seen policies that manipulated the gold sector, favoring only a select few.
This created hurdles for young businesspeople trying to make an impact. However, with President Mahama’s return and the progressive policies of the party, I am optimistic that these barriers will be dismantled, and opportunities will open up for young entrepreneurs,” he stated.
Reflecting on the challenges Ghana has endured in recent years, Mr. Atokple expressed confidence in President Mahama’s ability to steer the nation toward recovery and prosperity.
“For years, we have witnessed numerous struggles and setbacks. But today, we are filled with hope. President Mahama’s leadership promises to address the pressing issues and foster an environment that empowers businesses and individuals to thrive,” he said.
Beyond his role as an entrepreneur, Mr. Atokple’s philanthropic endeavors through the Tanko Foundation have earned him widespread recognition.
The foundation has been instrumental in providing educational scholarships, healthcare support, and community development initiatives across Ghana, with a focus on uplifting rural and underprivileged populations.
His unwavering commitment to social justice and economic empowerment underscores his aspirations as a Council of State member.
As an advocate for youth empowerment and sustainable development, Mr. Atokple believes President Mahama’s policies will resonate with the aspirations of the younger generation.
“This victory signals the dawn of a new era—one where young people will have the platform and resources to contribute meaningfully to national development.
As a young businessman, all I ask for are conditions that promote autonomy and fairness in our ventures. I believe President Mahama will deliver on these,” he affirmed.
Mr. Atokple concluded his message with an optimistic outlook for Ghana’s future, urging all citizens to rally behind the President for the collective good.
“Once again, I want to say a very big congratulations to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama and Her Excellency Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang. Their leadership brings hope, unity, and progress to our nation. Let us all come together to support their vision and work towards building the Ghana we all dream of.”
