Dozens of residents in Nima-Moke, a slum in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region have been displaced following a fire incident that ravaged their homes.
The fire, which began around 4:30 p.m., destroyed over 50 wooden structures and properties of the residents.
The blaze spread quickly due to the presence of highly combustible materials in the area.
The community has served as an abode for several migrants from northern Ghana seeking better opportunities down south.

According to eyewitnesses, the majority of the affected residents were away going about their daily routine at the market centres in Kumasi when the fire gutted their homes.
They were consequently unable to save their belongings. Families, including children, are now left homeless, unsure of where to seek shelter.
Eyewitness account suggests the fire started in one of the structures and swept through the clustered community following delays in contacting firefighters.
The inferno is yet another tragedy for the slum, which encountered a similar fire incident in 2020 that also displaced many residents and destroyed valuable possessions.
