Ghanaian actor and politician, John Dumelo, has pledged his support for the creative arts industry despite his new positions as a Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister designate for Food and Agriculture.
Speaking at the launch of Celestine Donkor’s 11th Celestial Praiz concert on February 6, 2025, John appreciated the works of the gospel musician and promised to always lend her the needed support:
He noted that regardless of his involvement in agriculture and politics, he will still avail himself for activities in the creative arts.
“Despite the fact that I am an MP now and I am in the Agric Ministry, I still will not forget where I came from which is the arts sector and I will always be an arts person. I will always be a creative person and if we don’t develop our own who else will develop it for us,” he said at the programme which was held at Tang Palace in Accra.
He added that even though some people disregard the creative industry, it contributes greatly to the economy of the country.
Yesterday, the celebrated actor was announced as the Deputy Minister Designate for Food and Agriculture. Prior to his nomination he had been tipped by a number of people to occupy a ministerial position in the tourism, culture and creative arts ministry.
John Dumelo, for the past years has also been hugely involved in agriculture and has advised the youth to take the venture seriously.
He is currently the Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.
