The Volta regional office of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is set to engage residents of Adidome, in the Central Tongu district of the region, following a petition submitted through the area’s Assembly Member, Guggisberg Fiagbenu.
In early February, the residents of Adidome raised concerns over poor service delivery, with one of the main issues being the billing system.
They highlighted that they have been receiving estimated bills instead of actual bills, a situation they believe results in inflated charges relative to their actual consumption.
Since the Akosombo Dam spillage disaster in 2023, residents have claimed they have been subjected to these estimated bills, which they argue are higher than what they use.
Through their Assembly Member, they have given ECG a 14-day ultimatum to respond to their concerns and resolve the ongoing issues.

In response, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of ECG in the region, Ms. Eunice Tweneboah-Kodua, confirmed that the company would visit the community.
The visit aims to educate residents on several key issues, including how to connect to the national grid, proper maintenance, and responsible power usage.
The residents will also be informed about how to access ECG services through the company’s virtual platforms.
The Assembly Member, Mr. Fiagbenu has urged the residents to actively participate in the meeting to better understand the company's services and has encouraged affected residents to bring evidence of their claims to strengthen their case and seek compensation where applicable.
