President John Mahama has been petitioned to honour some people who were advocates of his reset agenda, to positions to help him deliver on his promise.
The petition signed by social commentator, O.B. Kofi identified 10 individuals to be appointed to defend the country’s democracy, speaking for the masses, the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), and President Mahama under the Akufo-Addo-led-government.
They include Mensah Thompson, Richard Kasu, David Kumi, Azubila Salam, Nana Ntow Amerikyi, Rex Omar, Chief Bernard Mornah, Felix Best Agorvo and Listowel Nana Poku.
“Honestly Sir, the above-named individuals were your true friends in the struggle for the high office of President. Their works are known to the Ghanaian masses, the leadership of the NDC, and the international community among others.
“They defended you fiercely when the so-called voices of reason went into hiding or dining with the NPP government. They took on the erstwhile administration with admirable courage contributing in no small way to your emphatic victory”, he said.
He expressed worry at the delay in honouring the voices who manned up to speak to the admiration of many, “when the so-called moral voices went silent under President Nana Addo.”
“However, Your Excellency, I am yet to hear of the appointment of any of the above-mentioned public interest advocates. Though it's early days yet, I am deeply worried about the seeming delay in rewarding their efforts.
“I need to reiterate the point that the works of these individuals continue to inspire thousands of Ghanaians especially the youth and their appointment will send the right signal that it pays to work hard”, he said.
