The Ministry of the Interior has lifted the curfews on Chereponi and Bunkpurugu, both in the North East Region, with immediate effect.
The curfew was lifted following the advice of the North East Regional Security Council.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, on Friday, February 21.
The statement noted that the genuine commitment of the chiefs and residents to sustaining peace necessitated the lifting of the curfew.
It also cited the improvement in the security situation as a key factor in the decision.
The Ministry expressed gratitude to the chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and residents of the area and urged them to continue resolving disputes through peaceful means.
