Former Ghanaian defender Sam Johnson has asked underfire Black Stars coach Otto Addo to use the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers to turn around the doubts about his future.
Addo has come under immense pressure after supervising one of Ghana's worst runs in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers with the team missing out on the finals slated for Morocco later this year.
The Black Stars face Chad and Madagascar in the next international window with the games seen as an opportunity for the former Ghana international to get the backing of the fans.
Speaking to Joy Sports, Johnson said, "I can give myself another chance like Otto is doing. [If I were him] I would do my best, I'll push to get to qualify for the World Cup to redeem myself or my name so that Ghanaians will come back to me."
"I will give myself that chance, but it is the last chance that he [Otto Addo] can get. Because after this one, I don't think Ghanaians will be okay with him even coming back to be an assistant coach of the Black Stars."
The Black Stars are joint-top of their World Cup qualification group alongside Comoros and a positive performance in March will give them the nod before the next set of games.
