President John Mahama has called on the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to put the nation’s interests first and actively participate in the upcoming National Economic Dialogue.
Speaking during his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) in his second term on Thursday, 27th February, he stressed that rebuilding Ghana’s economy requires unity and collaboration from all stakeholders, regardless of political affiliation.
According to President Mahama, no single individual or party has all the answers to Ghana’s economic challenges, making teamwork and collective effort essential.
“No one knows it all, and I believe in teamwork.
The National Economic Dialogue is an opportunity for all of us to come together and reset our economy for the betterment of Ghana,” he stated.
He urged the NPP leadership to set aside partisan interests and contribute meaningfully to the discussions aimed at shaping the nation’s economic future.
The President officially announced that the National Economic Dialogue would take place on the 3rd and 4th of March 2025 at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The event will bring together government officials, economic experts, business leaders, and other key stakeholders to deliberate on strategies for economic transformation.
Mr Mahama emphasised that the dialogue would serve as a platform for generating practical solutions to Ghana’s financial challenges.
President Mahama is expected to lead the dialogue with a keynote address titled “Resetting Ghana: Building the Economy We Want Together.”
His call for national unity in addressing economic issues is seen as a move to foster bipartisan cooperation in navigating the country’s financial recovery.
