President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has secured a seat on the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
JoySports reported in January that Mr Okraku filed his nomination to contest for a seat on the continent's topmost football decision-making body, before stating that he would be automatically added to the ExCo because he was vying for the seat unopposed as representative of WAFU Zone B.
Indeed, Mr Okraku contested unopposed and will serve a four-year term from 2025 to 2029 on the 24-member committee, which plays a critical role in shaping the direction of football across the continent.
The former Dreama FC Executive Chairman became the leader of Ghana football in October 2019, before taking over as head of WAFU Zone B four years later.
His new position offers Ghana a stronger seat at the table where key decisions about African football are made. It’s also a chance for the GFA to further its influence in pushing for progressive reforms and development across the continent.
He joins the likes of Ohene Djan, Kobina Hagan, Nana Fredua Mensah, Samuel Okyere, and Kwesi Nyantakyi to served on the CAF Executive Committee.
