The overlord of the Gonjaland, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, has cautioned persons from his jurisdiction who have been appointed in the current government to remain loyal and not betray the trust reposed in them by President John Dramani Mahama.
He said the President requires their loyalty and efforts to help him execute his mandate diligently, hence his call for them to distinguish themselves through their contributions.

"I know you are all qualified and loyal. That's why the President builds his trust and selects you among the lot. So, don't betray him [President Mahama], but let your input justify that trust," he urged.
Yagbonwura made these remarks when the Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboo and Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Yusif Sulemana, visited him at his palace in Damongo, Savannah Region, to notify him of his new role officially.

According to the revered traditional ruler, they must endeavour to help the President reciprocate the goodwill of Ghanaians.
The Deputy Lands Minister, on behalf of his colleagues, thanked Yagbonwura for his role in President John Dramani Mahama's victory and assured him of their commitment not to disappoint the people in the region.

"We want to tell him [Yagbonwura] that those of us who have been appointed by the President will not disappoint the good people of the Savannah Region," he stated.
So far, about six people from the region have been appointed to various portfolios by the President to serve.

They include John Abdulai Jinapor, Minister of Energy and Green Transition; Yusif Sulemana, Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources; and Salisu Be-Awuribe, Savannah Regional Minister.
The rest are Adam Mutawakilu, Managing Director of Ghana Water Company Limited; Saaka Iddrisu, Savannah Regional Manager of MASLOC; Inusah Mahama, National Deputy Coordinator of YEA; and Kassim Yahuza, a Presidential Staffer.
